The Catherine McAuley Center was founded by the Sisters of Mercy. CMC's mission is to offer hope and opportunity through educational and supportive services that promote stability, skill-building, and connection. CMC's guiding values are empowerment, learning, mercy, community, and commitment, all foundational aspects of CMC's purpose and structure.  CMC is committed to developing the role volunteers play in achieving its core mission.

OPPORTUNITIES


Ongoing Individual Positions Available:


Opportunities for those who would like to serve at Catherine McAuley Center in an ongoing capacity. 


Volunteer Tutoring Opportunities:


These include volunteering as a tutor to help adult learners build skills and pursue their educational goals. Teach English and help adult learners study for US citizenship. 

Qualifications: Passion for empowering others through education, interest in working with diverse populations, and experience learning another language is helpful but not necessary. 

Flexible opportunity, weekly one-hour meetings in person or online. A minimum 10-week commitment


Housewarming Volunteer:

Create a warm and inviting home for refugee neighbors joining our community. 

Roles: Move furniture, clean, and provide finishing touches

Schedule: Sign up as your schedule allows! Weekday, evening, and weekend shifts are offered on an as-needed basis. Shifts are typically 3-4 hours long.

Qualifications: Have own transportation or carpool, able to lift 50 lbs, bend, and lift, but limited exceptions can be made.


Snacks for Skill-Building:

Contribute to a welcoming environment where individuals' basic needs are met! Snacks for after-school programming, groups, and other services help clients focus and engage while working towards their goals. Donate homemade or store-bought snacks and refreshments.

Qualifications: Desire to support women, refugees, and immigrants as they pursue goals of stability, love of cooking/baking helpful but not required.


CMC Kids Volunteer Opportunities:

Support parents' access to education and case management by removing childcare barriers, creating a safe and welcoming space for children of refugees and immigrants ages 18 months-12 years. Promote learning through play. 

Schedule: Open hours: M-Sat 9 am-12 pm and M-Th 5:30 pm-7:30 pm. A weekly commitment for a minimum of 10 weeks is preferred. 

Qualifications: At least 16 years of age and comfortable working with children. This is a family-friendly opportunity as little ones are welcome!
