Front Doors to Habitat for Humanity Office
Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity began in Cedar Rapids in 1988 with twenty-three faith-based organizations pulling together for the benefit of the community. They are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to building and rehabilitating simple, decent, and affordable homes in partnership with families in need in Linn and Benton counties.
Partner families make a down payment, invest hundreds of hours of sweat equity into the construction of their homes and other Habitat homes, and make monthly payments on an affordable mortgage. Since 1988, Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity has built or rehabilitated more than 165 homes and has served over 290 families. Cedar Valley Habitat serves up to 20 families each year through a combination of new construction, home rehabilitations, and repair projects.

Companies and Groups can contact the office about how to help regarding construction days. The smaller the group, the easier to schedule. Larger groups are encouraged to ask about painting and landscaping opportunities.
Ongoing Individual Positions Available:
Volunteer opportunities vary from construction, providing meals on construction days, and working in the Restore as an electrical tester, scrapper, backroom donation attendant, sales floor assistant, and doing janitorial. In addition, CVHFH has several active committees.
Construction Committee, Development & Communications Committee, Faith Relations Committee, Family Selection Committee, Family Support Committee, ReStore Committee, and Site Selection Committee.
Donating to Restore:
Habitat ReStore in Cedar Rapids accepts new and gently used building materials and home improvement supplies, furniture, appliance, and general home furnishings. We simply ask that donated items are clean and in good working order. Bring your reusable home improvement building materials or supplies down the alley to the clearly marked Donations Door on your left at Habitat ReStore.
We accept donations until 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Our staff and volunteers are available to help you unload. Receipts for tax purposes are provided. Please visit the Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity's official site for more information.
