Metro Catholic Outreach is a collaborative project of the 11 Catholic parishes of the Cedar Rapids, Iowa metro area. This outreach provides a food pantry, community assistance referrals, and financial assistance for housing and utilities to those in need in the Cedar Rapids Metro area.

METRO CATHOLIC OUTREACH IS A 501(C)(3) NON-PROFIT CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION that opened in February 2012.

We have grown over the years and now typically serve 80-150 families each month. With the vital help of many volunteers, we distribute food baskets to families in need. We assist people in need each month financially. We also refer clients to other resources as necessary.

We work hand-in-hand with various community resources in the Greater Cedar Rapids area that help with Housing, Veterans Assistance, Diapers and Formula, Older Adult Assistance, Rent and Utility Assistance, Meal Programs, Food Pantries, and Other Services.

OPPORTUNITIES

One-time Group Projects:

Various group projects are available for family, friends, youth groups, and coworkers. They include helping out with the garden, and distributing food, among other opportunties. Please call the MCO for more information.

Ongoing Individual Positions Available:

Choose the volunteer option that’s right for you, whether you like to work behind the scenes or enjoy interacting with clients. Sorting food at local parishes, bringing donations to MCO, stocking shelves, preparing produce, packaging meat, assembling food baskets, distributing food, greeting clients, answering phones, making appointments, connecting clients with resources, delivering fresh, healthy produce to clients, garden soil preparation, planting, weeding, harvesting, etc.
