Willis Dady Housing and Emergency Shelter

WILLIS DADY IS A NON-PROFIT CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION that has been providing services since 1989 for Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and surrounding communities.

Willis Dady offers many ways to help people where they are, including offering Emergency Shelter, Case Management, Homeless Prevention, Overflow Shelter, Permanent Supportive Housing, Rapid Re-Housing, Street Outreach, Veteran's Grant Per Diem, and Willis Dady Works.

Each of these works supports the clients with their needs, which may include vocational training, employment services, mental and physical health service, financial management assistance, general advocacy, searching for housing, making referrals, helping clients connect with donations and furniture, applying for Social Security benefits, offering basic needs such as clean clothes, a place to shower and launder their clothing, backpacks to carry their belongings, supervised employment, etc.

OPPORTUNITIES

One-time Group Projects:

Various group projects include kit making for toiletries and outreach grab bags, cleaning and organizing the Day Center, donating money, food, etc. Anyone interested should call in advance for group options as the need changes from season to season.

Ongoing Individual Positions Available:

The positions vary and may include front desk person during office hours, advocates, construction and renovation volunteers, donation room volunteers, on-call driver, client callback person, administrative workers, blog writers, laundry volunteers, shopping volunteers, etc.
